My name is Lindsey Dixon: I’m a director at a workforce development non-profit, freelance writer and graduate student currently living and working in New York City. I have a master’s degree in Adolescent Education (focus: Literacy) and am currently finishing up my Ed.M. in Instructional Technology & Media at Columbia University Teachers College. I’m a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a high school English teacher for several long but good years in the Bronx, and those experiences inform my research and my career goals.
As someone who has used her iPhone and iPad to learn everything from how to play Adele’s songs on the piano (when I’ve never played or had lessons) to how to speak Spanish well enough to go live in Guatemala for a month, I’m truly excited about the possibilites of combining technology and education. As a researcher, my primary areas of interest are: personalized learning, games for learning, mobile learning, workforce development, international education, lifelong / ubiquitous learning, and literacy.
